Welcome to General Psychology

Welcome to General Psychology! I hope you are all excited about this semester and ready to learn about psychology! I am excited to have you all in class.

This course focuses on the basics of the psychology field including a history of psychology, research methods, biopsychology, cognition, developmental psychology, social psychology, personality, learning, mental health, and many other concepts and theories within the psychology field. We will focus on being able to not only understand these concepts and theories, but more importantly being able to apply these concepts and theories to our own lives and the world around us. Psychology plays an integral role in the world, and it can be eye-opening to see how psychology is a part of our everyday life. Many students have the misconception that psychology is only about helping people (counseling and clinical psychology), but in truth, it encompasses much more than just helping others. I hope this course challenges you to think outside of that box and apply psychology to many more aspects of your life.
