- Students will analyze a lesson to ensure it meets the criteria for an engaging lesson.
- Students will evidence the understanding of the elements of backwards design by transferring a pre-made lesson correctly into the BVU Lesson Planning Template.
Agenda (schedule)
Before class:
- Read Chapter 6 in Rethinking Disability and chapter 4 in Making Differentiation a Habit.
During class:
- Review Lesson Planning Checklist Download Lesson Planning Checklist from Chapter 6 in Rethinking disability. Review details about the checklist components.
- Review "The Nine Phases of Differentiated Learning" from Chapter 4 in Making Differentiation an habit.
- Discuss how the Lesson Planning Checklist components fit into the BVU Lesson Plan Template. Discuss and explain the elements of the BVU Lesson Plan. Here are examples of use of this template

Using the lesson plans analyzed previously in class:
- Evaluate them in groups for the 8 elements and 9 phases.
- Make a list of strengths and weaknesses
- Suggest actions to address weaknesses
After class:
- Continue converting lesson plan into BVU Backwards Design Template and submit.
- Read Chapter 5, Making Differentiation a Habit
