This is a three-credit general psychology course. This course provides a general foundation for other psychology courses at Buena Vista University. There are no prerequisites for this course.

This course introduces students to the basic concepts and theories of psychology. Students will use critical thinking skills to analyze and apply concepts and theories to real life situations and their own life. Students will also be introduced to research in the psychology field and apply that research to form a deeper understanding of the concepts and theories.

We will be using Canvas as the main course delivery platform, which contains instructional materials, correspondence, grades, and more. This course is a fully online course, with no required synchronous class sessions. During the eight-week course term, your asynchronous learning will encompass a wide variety of instructional interactions that will be completed on your own time and must be submitted by the established assignment due dates. This course consists of lesson content and corresponding materials, assignments, and assessments. Within Canvas, you'll be able to virtually interact with your instructor and other students in the class.
